Please feel free to send your gig reports to the band! We would love to publish them here!
Friday 10th March, The Haymakers, Chesterton

After a prolonged discussion over what time they ought to start, given the new world of extended licensing hours weighed up against the size of the band's set list, the boys finally started up as the clock headed towards half past nine. They were well on form with the slightly modified lineup of Ted (guitar), Martin (vocals), Andy (bass), and Martin (drums).

The gig started slowly thanks to a severe case of "the crowd daren't go near the stage syndrome" - but as everyone had a few drinks things loosened up and soon there were a few girls dancing the evening away right up in front of the stage. Despite a slight cock-up (the stage lights went off half way through then came back on again), there was a good turnout and the place was absolutely buzzing by the second set.

The band played well, sounded good, and seemed to have an excellent time, finishing around half past eleven, which was convenient as I could have another couple of beers before heading home.

Another excellent gig lads! Thanks!

I'll try to stick a set list up here if anyone still has one.

Saturday 25th March, The Cherry Tree, Soham

It's no secret that your faithful reviewer was a little apprehensive to be heading out into "the sticks" to see the boys play in unfamiliar territory, but since I was actually being a lift there by a member of the band, I could hardly turn it down. We arrived early and  my fears were quickly dispelled - the Cherry Tree is a nice little pub, which started off the night thronging with the late afternoon football-and-food crowd, then had a slight lull just before the band began to play (and a certain proportion of the parents took their kids home "responsibly early"!).

The gig kicked off about nineish to a relatively lukewarm reception - I'm not sure what the locals were expecting, but I did hear some woman asking for "Sweet Home Alabama"! However, the lads pressed on and by half time we already had a few tentative dancers (and in such a small space too!). This was in no doubt part inspired by the unstoppable Colin who was in evidence this evening and under STRICT orders to remain fully clothed (thank goodness).

The second half kicked off with gusto and soon there was a full dance floor and we at the back were singing along at the tops of our voices, all par for the course of a normal Fridgie gig!

Added bonuses at this gig were

  • the extra long soundcheck / warmup (two extra songs for the same price, thanks!)
  • a full on light show (thanks ted)
  • the unstoppable, irrepressable, irresistable Colin (who did manage to remain clothed)

Another successful night all round!
